Sisters Come Together at St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia

Friday, August 3, 2007

All the Sisters of the U.S. Province gathered for their annual Assembly from August 3 - 5, 2007 at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

In addition to the meetings the Sisters had among themselves, August 4th was spent sharing the day with 30 lay friends who had joined the pilgrimage to Rome for the canonization of Mother Marie Eugenie. Lay friends came from Chaparral, Worcester, Boston, New York and the greater Philadelphia area for the meeting.

Together, Sisters and lay friends reflected on the questions:

What was most precious to me in the experience of the canonization?

What would I love others to discover about Mother Marie Eugenie and the Assumption?

What desires do I have for Assumption in the U.S.?

The sharing was deep and rich and gave everyone much matter for more reflectionand action. As one participant said, We all feel like the apostles on Easter morning!

The day was capped by a Eucharistic celebration honoring Sr. Clare Teresa Tjader, Sr. Anne Joseph Palmer and Sr. Anne Francoise Salaun. All three Sisters celebrate their 50th Jubilee of religious profession this year.

The dinner afterwards offered all an opportunity to share a word or two about the Golden Jubilarians. And share they did! It was a moment of great joy and gratitude.

The Assembly ended on the 5th, with Sisters returning to their communities carrying the beauty of the weekend with them.and lots of homework to keep them busy!
