Luke 2: 41-52

Meditation on the First Letter of John..

"Beloved See how great is the love which the Father has lavished on us." Gift of a prodigious love from the Father, made manifest in Jesus. The God of Love who sends his Son, who is the revelation of this love. Gift of Christs love, He who loved humankind until the end. To the point of giving his life.

"He willed that we be called Children of God and that is what we are." Children of God, begotten by the Father, such shall we be. Reality of the present gift along with its future. Gods children is our human condition, determined by something(one) beyond which will give humanity its full expression. As believers, we live in hope.

"We know that when the Son of God will appear, we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He really is." See ! We shall seethat is our faith, that is our hope. This is how we live in Him, with our interior regard we see the Invisible as if visible.

"My beloved, if our heart does not accuse us, we stand with assurance before God, and whatever we ask God will give us" Invitation to turn towards the interior and to discern if our heart blames us or if it is in accord with the ways of God. An interior gaze on self, an interior discernment made with God, a moment of truth that reveals to us our adjustment to God and Gods ways. Let us know how to ask the grace to do this. Let us have the boldness of the children of God who can ask anything and everything because of their trust.

"Here is his commandment : that we believe in his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another as He has commanded us." The way of love in unique: to believe in Jesus Christ and keep our eyes fixed on Him. The prevenient and perfect love of God for us, shining forth in the Son, is the reference point of all mutual love. The love of God proved in the love of ones brothers and sisters. Love of God, love for God, put into practice by the power of the Spirit in the believers who are called to love one another.

"And the one who is faithful in keeping the commandments is the one who abides in God and in whom God abides. And we know that He abides in us because He has given us his Spirit." The sign by which believers recognize that they have passed from death to life is their love of the brethren, inseparable from their faith and love of God. This is our true dwelling, our established domicile. The communion with God to which we have been introduced.
