Today the General Chapter elected four General Councillors to assist Sr. Martine, our new Superior General, in the animation of the congregation. We welcome and give thanks for our four Sisters:
Sr. Maria del Carmen Escribano, of the Province of Spain.Sr. Carmen has served the congregation in many capacities: Superior of the international community of Junior Sisters and professor at the Gregorianum and Regina Mundi Insitute in Rome, Provincial Councilor in Italy and in Spain, and, until her election this morning, Provincial of Spain. In addition to her native Spanish, Sr. Carmen is fluent in French, English and Italian.
Sr. Francoise Martin, of the French Province. Provincial Superior of France since 2009, Sr. Francoise had also served as Provincial Treasurer for a number of years. Having made her first profession of vows 30 years ago, she has served in the communities of Bordeaux, Villerm (Paris), Lubeck (Paris), Bondy and Compiegne.
Sr. Maria Josefina (Marjo) Matias, of the Philippine-Thailand Province. Before she was named Provincial Superior in 2006, Sr. Marjo had served as Provincial Councilor, and Novice Mistress. She is also a Board member of the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines and of the Loyola School of Theology in Manila.
Sr. Maria Eugenia (Mayi) Ramirez, of the Province of Ecuador-Chile. A young 43 years old, Sr. Mayi is a lawyer by profession. She has served her Province as Formator and Novice Mistress, Provincial Councilor, and Provincial Superior (since 2007). In 2008 she became chairperson of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors of Ecuador and is a member of the Board of CLAR (Confederacion Latinoamericano y Caribea de Religiosos/as).
