Worcester, MA | Philadelphia, PA | Chaparral, NM
October began with a new member of the Assumption Family coming to Worcester. We're pleased to introduce you to our new Vocation and Volunteer Ministry Director: B. Michelle Sherman. She will administer the AMA program and work with the Sisters to promote vocations to the Religious of the Assumption.
Michelle, from St. Louis, MO, graduated from St. Mary's College (Notre Dame, IN) with a major in Humanistic Studies and minors in Religious Studies and Art History. Joining the Cabrini Mission Corps right after graduation, she volunteered for two years as a campus minister and teacher at Mother Cabrini High School in New York City. That experience led her to Villanova University where she graduated this May with an M.A. in Theology and a certificate in Lay Ministry.
No stranger to the Catholic Volunteer Network (CVN), she presented a workshop on Ignatian Discernment at the 2011 national conference in Philadelphia and was one of four panelists on the topic "Leading with Joy" at the general assembly. For the last two years she has planned and facilitated discernment retreats for faith-based volunteer programs in the greater Philadelphia area and for Juniors and Seniors at State Colleges.
Michelle will be working out of Assumption Center in Worcester. Her great interest is in getting to know the Assumption family of Sisters and lay friends better, and in meeting with former AMAs. Already she has many ideas on how she might attract AMA volunteers and promote vocations. So happy to have you on board, Michelle!
