The new Assumption School in Chekereni in the Moshi region of Tanzania is now up and running. Named the "Saint Marie Eugenie Secondary School," it was established to commemorate the canonization of the foundress of the Religious of the Assumption. What better way to honor her than to offer an Assumption education to these young girls of Africa?
The latest newsletter from Chekereni announces the good news that the school now has electricity, the massive water tank is dug and the maize is growing! However, they are still in need of support: scholarships, textbooks, etc.
Charlotte Coltman, from England, is assisting the Sisters in Tanzania with fundraising and communication. Click here to view the April newsletter for more details and some beautiful photos of the school children studying.
Anyone in the USA who is interested in being a part of this project may contact Sr. Mary Ann Azanza, RA at [email protected] or write her at
