Assumption Sister at Vatican Synod

Sr. Rekha M. Chennattu, an Indian Religious of the Assumption and Provincial of the Indian Province, has been appointed by Pope Benedict XVI to be "Uditrice" (Auditor) for the forthcoming XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. The Synod's theme is "New Evangelization for transmission of Christian Faith" and will take place in the Vatican City from 7th to 28th October 2012.

Sr. Rekha's task at the Synod is explained as follows:

Art. 47: the norms for the participation of auditors and fraternal delegates

1. Those participating at the synod as auditors (auditores / auditrices) are given an opportunity to express their opinion in the small language groups or in the auditiones during the plenary sessions.

2. During the days of general discussion, provision is made depending on the time available for auditiones, that is, opportunities for those who are auditors and fraternal delegates to speak on a subject directly related to the topic of the synod.
