Dear Friends,
We'd like to let you know of two opportunities that the Assumption Family is organizing as a response to the Holy Father's appeal to pray and fast for peace.
"I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative." (Pope Francis, September 1. 2013)
Saturday, September 7
6:00 -- 9:00 p.m.
Eucharistic adoration
Sisters convent, 11 Old English Road
We will begin with Evening Prayer at 6:00 p.m. followed by quiet prayer of adoration before the Lord, our Prince of Peace, in whom we are all one body. If you would like to join us, please come and spend whatever time you can spare in prayer with us 15, 20, 30 minutes or the whole three hours! Our door will be open and you will be very welcome.
9:00 p.m.
Rosary for peace followed by adoration
Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Assumption College
"I wish to add my voice to the cry which rises up with increasing anguish from every part of the world, from every people, from the heart of each person, from the one great family which is humanity: it is the cry for peace! It is a cry which declares with force: we want a peaceful world, we want to be men and women of peace, and we want in our society, torn apart by divisions and conflict, that peace break out! War never again! Never again war!"
(Pope Francis, September 1, 2013)
With you in prayer,
Your Assumption Sisters Mary Ann, Nuala, Therese Margaret, Jurgita, Catherine and Akeneta
