Worcester, MA | Philadelphia, PA | Chaparral, NM
From January 7 - 17, 2014 our community in Chaparral was home to ten Sisters from the Provinces of Mexico, Central America-Cuba, Ecuador-Chile and the United States. What brought them there?
"Transcending Boundaries, Living Communion" was a formation session for Sisters of the American continent who had made their final vows as Religious of the Assumption within the last ten years. It was hoped that this time together would renew the Sisters in the living of their commitment to Christ in the Assumption and also strengthen the ties among the different Provinces of the Americas.
Learning more about migration and the experiences of migrants was another reason for coming together in this border town between the USA and Mexico. Through an immersion experience at Annunciation House in El Paso, TX and a visit to Juarez in Mexico, we tried to enflesh one of the directives of our General Chapter of 2012: "Marie Eugenie's invitation to 'love our times' impels us to turn our attention to the phenomena of migration and ecology: to study their causes and consequences in order to understand the implications for the living of our vows and for our lifestyle, apostolic priorities, and pedagogical methods."
This video will tell you the story of our session better than any words can. Click on the link and turn up your volume!
