Worcester, MA | Philadelphia, PA | Chaparral, NM
One day, two Masses of Thanksgiving: that was November 11th at Worcester, MA where the canonization of Mother Marie Eugenie was celebrated at both the 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eucharistic Liturgies at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on the Assumption College campus.
Friends, associates, Assumption College students, alumnae of various Assumption schools, parish groups from St. Peter's and St. Andrew's, Assumptionist priests and brothers, Little Sisters of the Assumption and Assumption Sisters from Philadelphia, Lansdale and Chaparral came together on a beautiful New England autumn day to give thanks for the gift of Marie Eugenie to the universal Church.
As the introduction in the Mass booklet stated: "On June 3, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI declared Marie Eugenie Milleret, the foundress of the Religious of the Assumption, a saint. This means that she is now considered a model of holiness for the entire Church. Today the local community the many friends of Marie Eugenie in New England celebrate this joyful event. Our Eucharistic Liturgy together will help us to direct our gaze toward Jesus Christ and the extension of his Kingdom as we sing and pray in the many languages of this worldwide family of women and men, religious and lay people."
A reception at the Atrium of the Testa Science Center followed each Mass. In addition to refreshments, guests were treated to exhibits featuring the life of Marie Eugnie, the miracle attributed to her, the canonization Mass and Youth Night in Rome, Assumption in the USA and in the world, the five branches of the Assumption family, the Associate Missionaries of the Assumption and Assumption Together. Guests could also view the DVDs of the canonization Mass and Youth Night.
It was a wonderful gathering of friends and Assumption Family all brought together by the holiness and passion of our new saint. St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus, pray for us!
