The Sisters of the U.S. Province gathered at the Lansdale convent, August 1 - 3, 2014, for their annual summer assembly. Their theme? CELEBRATION!
Each of the four communities -- Chaparral, Lansdale, West Philadelphia and Worcester -- presented significant moments from the past year...moments for which to be grateful and celebrate. It was wonderful to see the life of each communityand have a sense of all the many good things the Lord is doing in and through each one. It also gave us a lot of laughs!
The next days were filled with resource persons who enriched us on topics directly related to the priorities of the Province's five-year project:
Sr. Anne Francoise and Penny Mitchell, our new Finance Team, spoke on the developments in the Treasurer's Office in the past year and plans for the future.
Abbot Richard Antonucci, O.Praem, shared about the psalms and their place in our liturgy. Michael Nairn, a Friend ofthe Assumption and professor at the University of Pennsylvania, spoke to us about the situation of the environment and the challenges it poses to religious communities and the Church. Michelle Sherman reported on the work that had taken place over the past year with regard to Vocation and Volunteer Ministry.
Sunday morning we welcomed our friends, associates and AMA alumsto an Open House. So good to be together! And in the afternoon we ended our assembly with thoughts from St. Marie Eugenie on creation and ecology.
This little video will give you an idea of our weekend together. Truly, a time for celebration! Click here, please.
